When I see my friends with a 50lb jogging stroller going up a hill at a solid 9 minute pace I think: superhuman.
When I catch my friend clutching his knees with a goofy smile after just finishing the first 12 minutes of a one-mile run, I think: Supernatural.
When I see a friend whose day is spent squeezing in kids for soccer, meetings and errands, marathon training, I think: supernatural.
The super human
1. Above or beyond what is human; Having a superior nature or superior powers to humans
2. Exceeding normal human strength, achievement, experience, etc.: A supernatural effort.
Just because we often run to burn calories, doesn’t negate the fact that it fundamentally changes us. You can’t go miles day after day without finding that your whole life has changed. You are no longer average, no matter how hard you try.
Suddenly things that once seemed out of reach become possible and before you know it, friends start asking.”How are you doing it?!“
5 Habits of Successful People
I know, I know, you have bad knees, you’re too old, you’re too busy, it’s too boring. I hear your reasons and that’s fine, you don’t have to run to take advantage of what we mail loggers know.
Here are 5 things everyone should steal from runners if you’re ready to be superhuman too!
#1 Time Management
Your average person will often skip exercising because life is too busy.
The superhumans climb out of bed before the rooster even thinks about crowing to get his miles. They’ve showered, downed a green smoothie and gotten ready for the day before the rest of the house is fully up.
Or they’ve tried an early-morning routine and found it left them parched, but instead of using it as an excuse, they looked for new options. While his colleagues are sitting at their desks cramming greasy sandwiches down their throats, this superhuman slips into uniform, rushes out to grab a wrench and enjoy his sandwich garnished with a pile of avocado. It’s back on time.
Superhumans know that planning, prioritizing and choosing to run makes everything better, so they make it happen.
Tasks are rushed, unimportant tasks are delegated and when they are at work…gasp they focus on work instead of Facebook, so they can get out and enjoy the things they love. can In fact, science even says it makes us better employees!

#2 Pride in effort
Your average person will view exercise as either good or bad, not in between. And of course a bad workout is a great reason to ever put off doing something again or mope about it for the rest of the day.
Superhumans know that even painful get-go runs can create a sense of pride because you showed up, you kept going and you worked hard.
It is not always the result that matters, but only the doing. By continuing to choose this rugged path, a mental strength is gained every day that translates into other areas.
A sudden presentation that the bomb isn’t so devastating, it’s just one of those things that happens that we can learn from. That amazing photo you tried 10 times to get and then got no response on Instagram Ah well that’s life, I’m still glad I did it..
Superhumans know this.

#3 Enjoying food for fuel and entertainment
Your average person will count calories for days, feel deprived and decide to throw down a deep dish pizza with three years worth of ice cream.
Superhumans understand that there’s a middle ground between watching what you eat to stay healthy and grabbing a pink frosted donut with unicorn sprinkles because it puts a smile on your face.
Instead of going into an all-or-nothing mindset or hoping for the latest great diet bandwagon, they learn how to enjoy a kale smoothie for Friday night pizza for all the benefits it provides and because it Makes them happy.
Maybe they’ve started making this pizza at home with a cauliflower crust and dairy-free cheese, which will provide the perfect fuel for their Saturday morning run…after which they’ll hang out with friends. Maniacs can enjoy a Starbucks Unicorn drink and not an ounce of guilt.
Superhumans know that eating well ensures clear thinking, sharp vision, faster recovery and better runs. They don’t think of it as a diet or punishment to take away their favorite foods.
Find out which foods have been scientifically proven to be the best for recovery.
#4 Embrace the season
Your average person will snuggle under a blanket to get through the winter mornings and run inside for some icy A/C on hot summer days.
Superhumans know that the body will adjust and actually getting outside in the cold winter air stimulates brown fat to burn fat faster which will keep them lean and healthy. They know that there is beauty in the stillness of freshly fallen snow, the enjoyment of the salty face of a hot afternoon run and the sweetness of seeing new spring wildflowers for the first time on the trail.
We’ve become so used to keeping ourselves at the same temperature all the time, we’ve forgotten that our ancestors and bodies were actually designed for the seasons. This is why we crave hearty soups in the winter and light salads in the summer. Giving your body a chance to enjoy each changing temperature may prevent illness and keep you slim without counting calories.
Superhumans appear because the weather is crazy knowing it will make them stronger.

#5 Comfort in suffering
Your average person will quit when you experience the pain of pushing your limits. If you want to change, you have to find a way to learn to love the pain that comes with it.
Know about the height of the superhuman runner. Welcome to the wonderful world of endorphins: “Morphine is produced naturally in the body.” Our hours on the road produce this feel-good substance that can reduce or eliminate pain by joining the receiving end of synapses in the brain that would otherwise receive pain signals from the rest of your body.
But it’s not just about drugging our brains. It’s about learning in new areas, new places, and finding strengths we didn’t know we had before. You don’t have to be the same person you were 5 minutes ago, but if you want to get to know more superhumans, you have to be willing to accept a little discomfort.
Learn how to tell the difference between pain and discomfort.
The best thing about striving for your supernatural life is how it affects others. No fancy speech needed, just you, your running shoes and determination. You begin to radiate a sense of purpose and comfort that others want, but don’t seem to know how to achieve.
It doesn’t happen overnight, but it doesn’t require anything from you other than showing up. Your supernatural powers are ready and waiting, no cape or speedy senses required.
