When you walk through a fitness expo such as Olympia’s World Fitness Expo, you can see many booths featuring supplement companies that are starting up and hoping to become a big hit in the industry. Some companies make it while others don’t. Being successful for a decade is a testament to the quality and commitment of the company.
Not only has BPI been successful for more than a decade, they have grown from a disruptor in the supplement space to an industry leader. The Florida-based company is best known for their 1.MR (One More Rep) pre-workout supplement, which they introduced several years ago, but their entire line of sports nutrition products continues to appeal to consumers around the world. Has proven to serve well.
CEO Chris McKenzie and Vice President Whitney Reed have been a tag team in maximizing BPI’s growth over the past decade plus. While they are based in the United States, they have an international appeal that has grown rapidly, including in the Middle East.
“Over the past few years, we’ve built an amazing business in the Middle East region. Just a few weeks ago when I went to Dubai for the Muscle Classic, I was blown away by the craze for bodybuilding,” said Reid.

As for their strategy here at home, BPI positioned itself as one product at a time and one customer at a time. They found new levels of success when they reached out to Walmart to begin stocking their shelves with their supplements. Reed credited McKenzie with the move in 2013.
“He went on to pitch our first product. Walmart (1MR Vortex), and shortly after we added our amino and haven’t looked back since. There’s no risk in carrying your brand with the nation’s largest retailer.
Now, the line has expanded to include the Titan series of products. A past M&F cover model Mike O’Hearn partnered with BPI. to create his own line, and became the first athlete to have his own line of products on Walmart shelves.
BPI continued to expand its reach beyond bodybuilding into other industries such as the world of hip-hop. In 2022, BPI released a pre-workout honoring Method Man and a special taste of his revamped 1.MR after the one and only DJ Superstar Jay. He also has other allies in this space, including Ace Hod and Waka Flacka. Reed shared that these alliances were forged through a common bond of love for training.
“Ace, Waka, DJ Superstar Jay and Method Man are all gym enthusiasts and have an authentic story about their fitness journey. I think there’s a huge consumer market that we can help them achieve their fitness goals. can.”

In the world of professional wrestling, BPI at one time worked with the one and only Hulk Hogan. Today, All Elite Wrestling can now be considered an early promotion while BPI was in its early days. They have a mix of veterans and rising stars who keep their fans interested. Two of those stars are the legendary Billy Gunn, who has been creating moments for fans since the 1990s, and Denhausen, a lightweight athlete known as much for his entertainment factor as his matches. Both men have their own pre-workouts that are hitting big with the AEW audience.
“I think it’s very fitting that people who train and perform on an almost daily basis are connected to a supplement brand,” Reed said. “It amazes me that more brands aren’t working with wrestlers. These guys are on national TV every week with their shirts off. It’s a great way to get brand exposure.”
Another avenue that has helped increase their exposure is through social media. They found that working with influencers at both the macro and micro levels worked on multiple fronts. With over 100,000 followers as well as a collection of 1,000 followers, the brand is growing one customer at a time, and BPI will play its part in introducing people to the fitness industry that can make a positive difference. Like these inspiring people, Reed feels that the brand is growing and evolving over time, and that he can help the people he works with.
“I think that’s the normal evolution of sports nutrition brands. At one point we were the young cool brand but we’ve matured both as a brand and as individuals.
While the BPI team is great at raising awareness across disciplines, their roots and most loyal customer base will always be fans of bodybuilding and fitness. Many of these fans will be watching intently as Team BPI members Kamal Allgargani and India Paulino compete at the 2022 Olympia weekend.
“I’ve been going to Olympia for 15+ years, same for Chris. We keep up with all the industry news/gossip and follow bodybuilding. We’re true fans of the sport. We live it. ” said Reid proudly. As far as India and Kamal are concerned. We are very proud of our two Marco athletes who are both stepping onto the stage again. This is Kamal’s fourth Olympiad in 212 and India’s eighth Olympia in bikini. It’s amazing to work with two players who continue to win/compete at a high level. “
While BPI’s athletes compete on the Olympia stage, the company will continue to work to develop itself and help more people reach their fitness potential. 1.MR has been re-released with a brand new formula, and they are introducing more products and flavors in the coming weeks. As with all businesses, the plan may change over time, but the mission remains the same.
“Through it all we still maintain an amazing organic relationship with our customers. That’s evident in our social media reach. It’s evolutionary. No brand can appeal to everyone on day one. “Building a following and getting the word out there and most importantly helping customers reach their goals. We’ve had success in every category leading to a huge fan base,” Reed said. explained.
