Greg Lost Over 100 Lbs on Keto


So yesterday marked a pretty awesome NSV.

I have been living a keto lifestyle for a year and a half. During this time my health has improved immensely.

I have lost over 100 pounds.

I have cured my insomnia and haven’t used a CPAP machine in over a year.

I have shrunk my waist line by 10 inches from 42 to 32.

I found my energy and focus improved.

Took my blood pressure from life threatening levels to completely normal.

Gain more control over your mental health.

Improvement in chronic sciatica pain.

The list goes on….

But in that time, I’ve also dealt with many skeptics who, despite seeing my successes, raised unfounded concerns about what I was doing to my body by eating so much fat and protein. . Despite the studies that I was able to refer to and refer to and see in front of their eyes that I was changing for the better, and all on my doctor’s advice, that I still had blocked arteries. And that was not sustainable.

I am 39 years old now. My own mortality is something I have dealt with since I was 8 years old. My mother died of breast cancer at that time. She was 43 years old. Just 4 years shy of my current age. Then, at the age of 21, my father died suddenly of a heart attack. He was 58 years old. His youngest brother died the same way just 18 months ago at the age of 50. All of this sent me down a path of depression and eating disorders that saw me tip the scales at over 300 pounds by my mid-30s.

With all of this in mind, once I found this lifestyle, despite my poor health at the time, I might have suspected that this way of eating was actually a family risk for both cancer and heart disease. History won’t put me in much jeopardy. .

So, on my 39th birthday last month, I had a full panel blood test. Yesterday, I got the results….

Perfect

everything was. Perfect

Total cholesterol, triglycerides, A1C, HDL, LDL, sodium, potassium, uric acid, everything….

Perfect

This lifestyle isn’t for everyone, and I’m in no way giving medical advice, but at least for me, these numbers I’m seeing don’t lie. This is the best way for me to live. I’m doing the right thing for myself, for my future, to make sure I do every damn thing in my power to avoid dying before I live.

1. What tactics did you use to help you reach your goal? What helped you best achieve your goals?

Trust the process. I did my research and saw that people had experienced positive results. So even if I had a stall or a setback along the way, I trusted that I was doing the right thing.

2. What is the most impactful change you have made to your diet and why do you feel it is the most important?

Measuring my serving without a doubt. Now that I’m overweight, I allow myself some food where I don’t measure everything and track my food, but going in it was surprising to realize that I How Much I’m Eating vs. What I Actually Need to Eat .

3. What is the best advice you can give to someone just starting out?

Do your research. Ruled.me was a great resource for me and I still refer to it regularly. There is a lot of information out there but not all of it is good. So don’t be afraid to ask questions but to find the answers you need to weed through it all. There’s also a wonderful selection of keto-related podcasts that I leaned on to get just about all the information I could get my hands on. I really wanted to trust the process and to do that I needed to really understand what was going on in my body.

4. How do you feel your life is now that you are on your goal?

I still struggle when it comes to eating, but overall, I feel great. I never knew I could feel so good.

5. What do you consider the biggest change in your daily life?

It’s quite a long list…

6. What did you do to get help throughout your journey?

Keto Community Online. Whether it’s on Facebook or Instagram, it’s filled with some truly incredible people and truly inspiring stories.

7. What do you currently do to manage your daily diet?

That’s what I’ve done since starting keto, keep calm and keep on keto!

8. What is your favorite keto recipe from www.ruled.me that has become a staple?

Artisan mayonnaise. It’s so easy and so good!

9. If you could do one thing differently during your trip, what would it be and why?

I don’t wait until I’m over 300 pounds and 37 years old to start.
