Posing is a fundamental aspect of bodybuilding that every competitor must work on. All these hard-working athletes are confirmed by the way the body is presented when facing the judges. No one knows this better than IFBB Pro League women’s bodybuilder Janine Lankowski, who has won more Best Poser awards than any other pro.
Linkowski joined Landa Murray and Elena Popa on a recent episode of FemmeFlex Friday to offer her expertise on the posing exercise. One point she made early in the show is that you have to be comfortable with yourself before you can reach your posing potential.
“It’s a presentation. It’s a presentation of you. So, if you’re going to feel comfortable in that look, you’re going to fit in with it,” he said. “I feel comfortable in my own skin.”
Feeling comfortable on stage also includes a sense of sound. Linkowski shared that the right music can make all the difference.
“You want to find a song that’s you. It’s not so much about what the audience likes. It’s about you because you’re representing yourself and your personality.
Then, put the routine together. In addition to knowing the basics of each pose and music, Linkowski believes you have to learn to communicate without talking to the audience.
“You want to speak to the audience with your eyes and your body,” she advises. “It’s not just standing there and ‘boom’.”
Last but not least, he suggested one thing not to do – tell the crowd to get loud.
“If you can’t get them the first time you step on stage, don’t worry.”
